  • Acceptable job performance requires a wide array of communication, coordination, organizational and technical skills.
  • Perform field investigations for data collection including soil borings, vegetation and hydrology samples/surveys, wetland delineations.
  • Efficiently identify and survey native and non-native plant species/communities in the upper Midwest.
  • Collect and manage GIS data as needed.
  • Assist in development of a wide array of reports and permits, such as: wetland replacement, monitoring, and banking, MnRAM, conditional use permits, and others as needed.
  • Assist in conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments including site visits, interviews, research, and writing the findings into accurate and concise reports.
  • Assist in the research and preparation of environmental reviews, such as Environmental Assessment Worksheets (EAW), Alternative Urban Areawide Reviews (AUAR), and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
  • Collect water samples, document field work, perform specific QA/QC Protocol, and ensure samples remain in sampling condition until given to lab.
  • Research various topics and obtain data utilizing the internet and through various communications.
  • Assist ISG personnel with proofing, communications, and other assistance where needed.
  • Complete correspondence in a responsive and timely manner.
  • Interact with the public in a professional and responsive manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in natural resources, environmental science, botany, biology or a related field (or equivalent education/experience)
  • A minimum of 2 years of training/experience with wetlands, water quality, habitat assessments, and/or Threatened and Endangered Species Surveys.
  • Ability to obtain International Society of Arborists (ISA) and Minnesota Certified Wetland Delineator certifications within 12-24 months of employment.
  • Writing reports, permits, and providing technical information in a natural resources, environmental, or related field.
  • Ability to work in a variety of terrain, weather conditions, and lift over 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to conduct field work 50% of the time. Travel within the upper Midwest up to 25%.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Provide accuracy in gathering information, measurements, and relaying data
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word and Excel)
  • Experience with ArcView GIS and AutoCAD is preferred
  • General knowledge of the construction industry, site design, land development, and an understanding of state and local rules, ordinances and codes
