We're hiring a planner to join our Land Development Solutions Team to bolster our growing Land Development services. This will be a Rochester-based position, supporting the strong growth of our recently established Rochester office as well as opportunities for firm-wide support.

#ISGRochLaunch is well underway, and is lead by Cyle Erie, PE, Client Solutions Leader and Brian Muellner, AIA, Architecture Group Leader - proven, well respected professionals with strong ties to the area.  As an Emerging Professional Friendly firm by the AIA, we made an intentional effort to find an optimal office location. We landed at a premier downtown building, the H3 Plaza. We love our new home where you can enjoy killer views of Broadway and the Zumbro River. Quite possibly the best part? ABOUT THE JOB: First and most importantly, you will be an ISG Employee Owner working collaboratively with your fellow employee owners to deliver for our clients. As a member of a fully-integrated team, you will assist clients with understanding what is possible on their sites, and working with local municipalities and jurisdictions having authority to help guide clients through the complex land development process.  As part of a larger fully integrated team, you get the satisfaction of guiding your client through their project from master planning through occupancy and beyond.  Your teammates on this exciting journey with our client include civil engineers, surveyors, environmental engineers, landscape architects, architects, interior designers, structural engineers, MEP engineers and construction administrators. 

We're looking for someone with strong passion for urban planning, who thinks and designs with sustainability and creativity to deliver the best analysis and options for our clients. We are also looking for someone who enjoys staying engaged in various professional organizations to continue to learn, grow and influence.

  • Demonstrate advanced understanding and application of analyses, mapping, and reports related to urban design and community planning.
  • Develop and prepare design documents including design guidelines, maps, reports, comprehensive and local plan packages, and presentation materials.
  • Review, prepare and implement zoning ordinances and requirements to support projects.
  • Lead project public engagement workshops and presentations.
  • Conduct field observations, gather data and research and produce comprehensive, critical analyses from them.
  • Participate in marketing presentations and client meetings.
  • Utilize your professional and personal network to develop business.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • 8+ years of experience working for a public entity or a consultant.
  • AICP certification or ability to obtain in 6 months required.
  • A professional degree in urban design or urban planning.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication and analytic skills
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects amongst cross-discipline teams with competing priorities.
