We're hiring an engineer to join our Water Solutions Team to bolster our growing Water/Wastewater services. We're accepting applications for the next few weeks with a start date by end of February.

ABOUT THE JOB: Our Water/Wastewater team serves the essential Municipal and Industrial clients throughout South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin and are comprised of folks in our Sioux Falls, Storm Lake, Des Moines, and Minneapolis offices. We are part of a full-service, multi-disciplinary team, who perform award winning work in planning, design, survey, and construction.

Our water/wastewater graduate engineers are responsible for the following:

  • Developing detailed designs of water/wastewater treatment and collection/distribution systems including site layouts, plans and specifications.
  • Conducting field observation, inspection and data collection.
  • Supporting studies and alternative analysis to determine best treatment options to meet compliance and client goals.
  • Assisting in the preparation of permit submittals for water/wastewater projects.
  • Working with various disciplines to integrate functional, detailed and sustainable designs of municipal and industrial water/wastewater into infrastructure
  • Collaborating with team members, communities, and stake holders to define data needs, project requirements and outputs or to develop applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Here are some projects we've worked on recently that might give you a better sense of what you'll be doing day to day:

  • City of Sioux Rapids, IA
    • Upgrade water treatment plant to include additional source well, ion exchange for nitrate removal. Project also included new building, high service pumps, valves and controls.
  • Prestage Farms Eagle Grove, IA
    • Wastewater pretreatment system to send wastewater to the City of Eagle Grove Wastewater Treatment Facility. The design incorporated stringent phosphorus and nitrogen limits in a stream loaded with BOD, FOG, TSS and dissolved solids.
    • Well development (2-2000 gpm wells) and Reverse Osmosis pretreatment for production supply water.
  • Forsman Farms Howard Lake, MN
    • Wastewater pretreatment system to meet compliance requirements of the City owned wastewater treatment plant for a heavily automated egg-processing facility.

ABOUT YOU: We're looking for someone with strong passion for water/wastewater design and application. We are seeking someone who thinks and designs with sustainability and creativity to deliver the best analysis and options for our clients. We are also looking for someone who enjoys staying engaged in various professional organizations to continue to learn, grow and influence.

You will need to have the minimum of a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related field. You also might have passed your P.E. or may still be working toward it. What we need is someone with the experience to complete self-directed work independently, with minimal supervision. A strong track record of recent past projects with good references speaks volumes.
