Civil Engineering + Construction Technician


Des Moines, IA


ISG is seeking an experienced individual to provide civil engineering services with an emphasis on construction inspection.   • Provide construction oversight as resident project representative.
  • Perform daily reporting of transportation construction projects including local and state agency projects.
  • Contract administration of municipal projects.
  • Attend professional meetings including pre-construction, public information and weekly construction meetings.
  • Perform civil engineering calculations; prepare engineering plans, designs & reports when needed.
  • Deliver project documents within time constrains while satisfying client requirements.
  • Develop and enhance client relationships and business growth.
  • Prioritize overall project management and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring of project team members including engineers and technical support staff.
  • Assist with functional and detailed design of transportation and municipal infrastructure projects when in the office.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Associates degree in accredited Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technician program, or related field. Relevant experience accepted in lieu of education.
  • Working knowledge of IDOT construction and design standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-directed and can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful past employment.
  • Familiarity with local, state and federal government processes.
  • Working experience with transportation project design using Civil 3D a plus.
  • Knowledge of survey and construction staking layout preferred
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
